Next weekend will be a zoo, but if you're with someone who will appreciate that sort of chaos, it could be a good time to go. I will probably take one of the neighbor boys, if the weather isn't too bad. Lake Leland, where I fish regularly is open all year as well, so it may not be as packed on opening day. You might want to try there. I went last Sunday and got 5 stockers, while my son-in-law got 6 or 7 fish, a couple being in the 13" range and one being maybe 15". It was windy and we didn't have much time, but there was some sun and the fish were biting. Good luck.
