I do an annual fish in at Lake McMurray with some friends. Some years are great and others are poor but this is a tradition. We usually get to the lake after noon to avoid most of the early morning crowds but this day I worked all night so I got there at about 10:30 and started fishing around 11:00 (after I decided not to wait for the rest of the group). I trolled in my float tube with a Spruce Fly (red and green body with long white wings) at first and hooked 10-15 fish in the first hour. When that fly quit, I switched to a six-pack and was very successful until about 5:30 when the bite went absolutely dead!!! These were hatchery trout so they spent most of their time on or near the surface. For future trips, try a fly, a small flatfish or a spoon close to the surface. If that doesn't work, try bait close to the bottom in about 4-10 feet of water. Later, in about 2 weeks, fish in 20-25 feet of water with bait close to the bottom. A fast sinking fly line with a nymph pattern works also but--
*Editor's note, report cut off at this point.
