Work was called off due to rain, so I slept in did some chores then off to the lake for a quicky to get my fix lol. I got the raft blown up, and on the water by 3:00pm I started off trolling a rebel bumblebug from the launch and immediately nailed a 12" (native?) Cuttbow, it had teeth on it's tongue and deep red slashes under it's jaw, but had very nice pink coloration on it's cheek and down it's side and had fully formed perfect fins.
After 5 more minutes I noticed an angler fly fishing, I had my fly rod with me so I paddled over to see how he did, and just as I approached him he hooked up and landed a little stocker, surprisingly it was my friend Henry that I fished with many times in the past, he was using an orange spider pattern, he had extras so he hooked me up with one and we trolled around just slaying the trout, one after the other we were hooked up and landing fish. It was a blast catching those stockers on the flyrod, way better than just cranking them.in on a spinning rod. All told we both packed up and left at 4:30 after releasing several trout and each keeping our limit.
the fish all cleaned up awesome, way better than I anticipated, all the rainbows had decent pink meat on them, and the cutt meat looked like dime bright coho meat. For only going 1 1/2 mile from my house and spending an 1 1/2 fishing it was a very successful outing.
