FINALLY! I caught my first kokanee at American Lake after numerous trips trying. Arrived at the lake at about 2:00 pm. Only a few other boats on the water. Wind was blowing pretty good but I managed to work my porta-bote with my trusty Minn-Kota electric motor out to the area between the island and American Lake park. About 3:00 it seemed like the Lord was emptying heaven of all the moisture because it came down on me like buckets! But right as it started my rod started dancing and the fish pulled my sling blade/wedding ring rig off the downrigger clip and fish on! Nice fat 15 incher! Trolled about another 2 hours with on and off rain but only had one other hook up that got off after a short fight. Well I'm giving it a 4 star because of my first Koke there and it was pretty. Tomorrow I go to the coast and hopefully bring home a bag of surf perch. Tight lines all! Sorry no pics this time.
