I started fishing today around 2:00. I worked the north end of the lake and picked up one rainbow around 17" on a olive/black beadheaded wolly bugger size 10. Just kicking around with a medium sink line and stripping and trolling at the same time. Overall, this method was pretty slow today. Just before dark I moved to the west shoreline and found some active fish. Casting away into the shoreline and away from the shoreline towards the middle of the lake, I discovered that if I gave the fly 8 to 10 short, quick strips and then stopped all I had to do was wait for the fish to strike while the fly slowly sank. In fact, I was waiting up to 30 seconds and fish were still striking. I landed 7 fish doing this (not to mention that I lost 3 that broke me off) and included was a 25-26" brown that had to weigh at least 5-6 lbs ( My fingers are crossed that the pictures turn out on this one)! All the others were rainbows in the 17-20" range. If you are going to fish this lake anytime soon, don't be afraid to fish at least an hour after dark and dress warm because the water is getting cold. Hi Cameron!
