It looked to be a perfect conditions day for fishing. My boss and I launched our float tubes at Rattlesnake about 0930. There was only one other pram on the water. Conditions were sunny, 70 degree air temp?
The only thing about this lake that can really suck is that it can get REALLY windy here. Sure enough... it blew like crazy as we made our way S. from the launch.
The wind eventually calmed down. I started with an elk hair caddis on the surface, and of course it was too rough for dry flies, but that was the hot fly last time here. I went to an intermediate sinking line, and a olive woolly bugger which my friend had tied. Fish on in about 3 min. When fishing this lake via the tube and fly rod, I prefer to just troll my flies. 3 minutes later, second rainbow. Tried a few other flys, to include a blood worm, an olive leach, etc. But the olive bugger was the fly today. I went 6 for 10 on rainbows. A few were 13", and others 11-12". They're scrappy fish, taking good runs and jumping from the water. My boss caught two, and lost a few.

Rattlesnake is Selective gear, and in the past few years has become managed as a catch/release lake.
All these fish swam away of course.

Fish were hitting at the Far South end where all the stumps are, and also on the West side going all the way back to the very large jumping rock at the NW edge of lake. Not nearly as productive as it was in Oct. but still a very solid day for me.
