Decided to enjoy the wilderness experience of Green Lake one more time! Pete had had great success there earlier in the week, limiting in two hours, including one brute of 18" and 3+#. Arrived a bit after 5:00, lines in the water at 5:15. Air temp at outset was a muggy 54 degrees. Overcast, with a light wind from the south. Water temp at the shoreline was 65 degrees. Started out with fl. orange Power Eggs on both rigs. Something had put the fish off the bite... fished for four hours with only a couple light hits... had one good hit at about 9:00, but no hook-ups. Pete's back was killing him, had done some heavy lifting during the week, so he begrudgingly left the lake about 9:30. I stayed on, trying about every color of PE and Power Dough in the rainbow, as well as different leader lengths. Finally, about 10:30 one of my rods doubled over, was pulled through my rod holder, down the bank and into the brush at lakeside... big trout on! Beautiful silver rocket erupted from the lake's surface sixty feet out, peeled off line and catapulted through the air three times before bringing him to the net. Just a tick under 14". About 11:30, reeled in my second Rainbow, then ten minutes later my third, then another at noon... the bite was on... then it was off! These three were stockers of from 10" to 11 1/2". Tried to hook into my fifth, but not to be. All fish caught on fl. PE on a 5' leader. Left the lake at 2:30 to take care of some errands, and grill some of last Fall's salmon.
Saw quite a few fishermen out, most stayed a while then left without fish. Saw two other fish caught, heard from various lake strollers that they had seen some fish caught at other sites on the lake. The ospreys were doing alright, saw them take their share!
