After doing yardwork in the morning, I decided to head down to Myron to kick back and see if I could catch my first fish on a fly rod. I've been tying lots of flies and wanted to give them a try as well. I got out on the water and launched my tube by about 2pm and started trolling a damselfy nymph as close to the shore as I could. No strikes. Saw a bunch of gnats or mosquitoes and put on a gnat. Nothing. So I tied on a small fly popper, yellow and black, and went to the north bank. Finally, id found a fish! A bunch of bass anywhere from 6-10 inches were cruising the shallows. I casted my popper to them and was rewarded... With a pumpkin seed. Not exactly what I was looking for, but pretty fish. Long story short, a little tiny black and yellow popper caught me one bass (of which i lost) and 5 pumpkin seeds. First fish on a fly rod, first fish out of Myron. Any advice, with either fly or spin gear, for Myron's bass or trout is more than welcome, as this was my third trip to Myron and only the first time I've caught fish.
