Sawyer must be in your back yard. I've never tried a dropshot in that shallow of water. The few times I tried it had OK success but like I said it was much deeper targeting ledges and structure. Decent smallie...

Ya, normaly I fish a dropshot in 10 foot or deeper, but this time of year I'll follow up my crankbait with a dropshot cast or two, which is what I was doing. Other times I'll throw a dropshot shallow as the fish can still be under docks and inside or outside the pad lines and be shallow. Last summer I watched a 1 1/2 lbder come out of the pads, go along the dock a couple yards, take my dropshot worm, go back to the pads and I didn't feel a thing. I had to go into the pads to get the fish and not break him off. Very interesting to watch that sort of thing happen.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to give that a try...
