I did some fishing yesterday at the Mosseyrock Dam fishing area, off of Highway 12. It was sunny with a little wind blowing. The fishing calendar rated it a Poor day. I got there at 6:10 in the evening. I counted about eight other people fishing at various times, while I there. There were quite a few fish jumping.

I caught 2 silver salmon (land-locked Coho.) We were all getting some bites, not very consistently though. I was using shrimp for bait, about 6 to 8 feet down. I tried an artificial pink worm. Looked like they were checking it out, but I didn't get any bites on it. I tried some Brown Bear Bait Eggs also, that do not float. There didn't seem to be any interest in those at all.

Nice job, I used to fish there with my mom ever summer and always did well every trip. Made some great memories on those steps. We used to use slide bobbers 30 ft down with cocktail shrimp and worm.

Good catch, but these are landlocked sockeye, not cohos.

Thanks for your comments. Once again, there are no Sockeye in Riffe Lake. Tacoma Power stocked it with Coho. Please also check the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website, for the fish species, in Riffe Lake, which lists Coho, not Sockeye.
