Screwed up my skunk again, caught a 5.40 Largie on my favorite crankbait. It might be the very same Largie I caught May 13 last year in the same exact spot that the crankbait landed, within 1 or 2 feet anyway. On May 13, 2013 the fish weighted 5.11. The adventure goes on.

The left picture is today's, and the right picture is from May 13, 2013.

The markings sure look exactly the same. The 3 dots under the lateral line and above the anal fin with the two dots in front of the single dot. And the shape of the lateral line splotch/mark above the side fin, and the other side splotches. And the 2 marks on the edge of the gill cover.

Definitely the same fish. I can tell by the large black dot just behind the pectoral fin and what looks like a slash from just in front of the anal fin running up the side of the fish towards the top. That is awesome Amx. Keep tabs on that one. In a couple years she could turn into a double digit fish.

That's a nice fish.... more like 3.5 lbs maybe. Was it about 20 inches?

I didn't measure it, I very seldom do. And I test my scale every year at least 3 times, spring, mid-summer, and fall. And every time I have a doubt or feel like it. I also tested the scale the other day after catching the 4.04 Smallie, and again after catching the 5.4 Largie. I also tested the battery yesterday and it read 8.38 volts for the 9 volt bat.. The scale is 2 or maybe 3 years old. That measuring rule is 18 1/4" long and marked at 18". An 18 inch fish would be in the 3-4 pound range depending on how fat the fish is. That fish would be around 19 1/2 to 20" long. The Smallie I caught the other day was 20 1/2" long, yes I measured the length on her. I have a sewing measuring tape in the boat.

By now I think all the bass in Sawyer should know you by facial recognition, come into the boat and give you a wave of the fin and say, "See ya next time."

Wow, with your catch rates, it almost like you could make a career catching and name every fish in that lake and reporting the stats to WDFW! "Gus and Margie were caught yesterday on senkos and today Franz on a crankbait, Ursula's lip isn't in very good shape after that spinnerbait..." Nice catching! Wish I was doing more of that these days. :) Thanks for all your reports.

So THAT'S what happened to that smaller/pounder fish the other day. A spinnerbait. It's lip WAS mangled a bit on one side. Did you meet that fish sometime recently? I also mangled my favorite crankbait today, too many docks used as a backboard, and it was only about 2 weeks old after mangling the bill on another one. Good thing I HAD a few extras, but I'll need a few more at this rate.
