Reports a little late, but Ive been a little busy this week.Needed a road trip bad to break my busy schedule.Hooked up the brown bomber and shot over the pass to Riffe.I launched at the free launch where the Cowlitz dumps in.I always seem to get nicer fish here this time of year.It started out slow at first till I came across a school of fish about 31 ft down that showed up on my finder as one enormous baitball about 50 ft wide.I used a green wedding ring double hook set up with a night crawler on the lower hook and about 4 gulp white maggots on the upper hook behind a green herringbone swingblade dodger.I ran this off a downrigger right through the middle of them.Pretty much every pass had some sort of action which resulted in a very quick limit even though I lost several. Most of the takes the fish seemed to be targeting the gulp maggots leaving an untouched worm.Fish were 15-19 inches the largest being the only trout in the bunch.Wish I had time to stay another day or so but work calls. So back to Yakivegas I go

I think we have had this conversation before. I am pretty sure the only "salmon" in any fresh water lake is the kokanee (sockeye), and on occasion, landlocked chinook (at least in Washington. Can anyone confirm this? Lakes that are connected to rivers, i.e. Lake Washington, will have actual salmon runs from the ocean.

Traditionally, "silvers " are always Kokanee and not coho.

Kokanee are land locked Sockeye salmon. Riffe has land locked Coho and Chinook per the Washington Fish and Game web site.
