With the beautiful weather we've been having I couldn't resist to go out again today on Lake WA after work as I didn't want to fight any Friday traffic so chose what is close to home. Got on the water with about 50 others who were out to enjoy the beginning of summer but only a couple of us fishing. There was a pretty good north/west wind blowing so decided to try around the south tip of Mercer and over to the eastern shoreline.

No takers but lots of boaters and waves so pulled in the gear and headed over to the Seward park cove where the hills blocked some of the wind so put out a watermelon sling blade and a "fishing with Gary" spinner that I had success with over in EA WA and figured I would just troll from Seward Park to the boat launch at Atlantic City. It was new water for me so set the line back 100' put the wire at 25' and sat back to enjoy the ride back~ was surprised how deep it was along there at over 100 feet most of the way and when I hit 115 the rod started dancing and actually pulled the line out of the clip! Cool!
Grabbed the white Lamiglas rod and started reeling in but realized this fish was not acting like a cutty but was coming in pretty easily to the boat. Soon realized I had a kokanee on the line so was careful to keep the rod tip low and slowly brought it close and glided my rubber net under it and into the boat it goes!

I knew it was under 15" so bonked it and into the ice bath it went and finished off my day with a smile! Just a warm up for my trip to American in the morning so I need to get to bed to get up at O' dark 30 to get my 1st of the year kokanee there!

See you on the water!

Fat koke for sure. Do you have your yard stick marked at 15 1/2 inches. ?
