First time to Goodwin and it was a beautiful day.Launched from Wenberg State Park $7.00 park fee to get in.Started fishing at 7:00 a.m. and quit at 3:00 p.m.Fished the north end of the lake until noon then worked our way down the shore line casting to dock that ended in about 10 feet of water. Caught 5 all around 2 lbs. and lost 3 heaviest was 2.5 lbs. Fishing was slow had to work for them but well worth it. Was using a rattle trap on super long cast. The other one was caught on a drop shot. All of them where caught in the 12 to 8 foot depth range. There where empty beds and schools of fry around the docks. I expected to see more schools of fry for that amount of empty bed in the flats. Spawn for the most part is over and they are into their post spawn pattern. All of the fish had orange marking/ sores in the back of their mouths.(cracking crayfish) Partner caught 1 that was little over 2 lbs. on a senko. Patrol was on the lake making sure people where boating safely it was nice to see them.

Nice report, any shore access fishing? How about Lake Ki, just trying to hit local lakes with shore access, thanks.

Not much bank access to any of the lakes in that area. Goodwin has minimal access at the county park ( boat launch park off of West Lk Goodwin road ) try the area near the pavillions there. No access at Shoecraft. The boat launch area's at Martha and Howard are fishable and will put out some trout but thats it for bank access. Ki has the most bank access but not much action by the main road. Good luck. If you park outside of the park on Goodwin you can avoid the entry fee for those who cannot afford it.

I just picked up a small 4 person inflatable for that specific reason. I've only been out here two years, and after trying (and failing) to find decent places to shore fish I got a raft. It was well worth it. I suggest picking up a small inflatable to get you around the lake water. Trying to find decent shore fishing in this area is irritating because it doesn't exist. The lakes are all way too populated.
