My roommate and I headed out to Fio Rito about 9:20 and was fishing by 9:45. I had my favorite lure on my line, with 8lb test. I fished for about ten minutes and had a decent sized strike. I figured maybe a 2lb brown trout, but then it started to run like no other. It jumped about 6 times, and fought until I got it in. As soon as I got it a foot on shore it snapped the line, and I grabbed it quick. I thought it was a damn sucker fish, and then a record size crappie, but then I saw the Large Mouth. I weighed it at 4lb 10oz, but my roommate says it was 5lbs more (he says I read it wrong). So if so it was 9lbs 10 oz. All I know it was huge. The biggest bass I've caught. I love to see the fish swim off afterwards, so that Lunker is still out there.
I fish the lakes all around here, and find that South Fio Rito is rather easy to catch 3-10 in. lm bass and I have seen a few big lm bass in there too, but no success until tonight. But Woodhouse loop ponds has seem to bring me more luck with bigger bass, but fewer caught. While fishing for bass in Fio Rito I have caught over 18 lm 3 times (catch and release).
These are great lakes, good luck to all.
