Decided to roll the dice and hoop over the pass to Ellensburg and Fio Rito. Hand not fished there since being in college at CWU, some 15 years earlier. My boys (Nathan 9 and Wesley 6) and I launched about 10:00 AM. (Whatever the state pamplet says, there is NO launch.) We immediately starting hooking into fish. We used a F4 Flatfish, black with silver flake and a dodger for Wesley, while Nathan and I used lead core line and black Doc Spratley fly. It was an excellent early fish, boating 15 fish in 3 hours. If not for the fairly intense wind and having to use an electric motor (it is the law), we would have boated more. The fish varied from 10" to 15" and all were Rainbows, except one brown (11"). We keep just 5. They apparently have placed some brood stock in the lake, saw 3 fish taken in the 5 to 6 pound class. Wesley hooked into something very large, but unfortunately it threw the hook after a few minutes. Overall a great early March outing :)
