We just moved up from Oklahoma, I have been checking out the local public access fishing spots. I got to Silver Lake about noon, I was the only one on the dock. My first time on this particular lake. It was hot out with clear skies. I was using a good sized minnow lure, wasn't sure how that would work out once I saw how thick the plant-life under the surface was. I fished for about an hour and got quite a few bites, but didn't hook anything. I have to admit, I really am loving the way you can see the fish from a mile away up here, as opposed to Oklahoma's muddy rivers, creeks, and lakes where you cast out and wait for a giant cat or whatever to swallow up your bait. I watched a ton of fish swimming in and out from under the dock. I was about to move around on the bank, beginning to think my lure was too big, and was reeling in when something crazy hit, I saw it swallow the lure whole. It fought for a while, and I got it up on the dock, and I honestly had no idea what it was, but it had some nasty fangs, lol. I yelled to a guy putting his boat in, and asked if he knew what kind it was, and turns out it was a Tiger Musky. Absolutely one of the biggest, craziest fish I have ever caught, anywhere. I thought for sure the lure was in his stomach, but turns out it was a good hook in the lip, so I released him back. Didn't get a picture, left my phone in the truck, but I will be sure to visit Silver Lake again.
