Went to American Lake again to try the trout fishing. Got there around 6 pm and stayed till it was dark and had to leave. It was raining pretty nasty when we first arrived but soon cleared up for good fishing for the rest of the day. There are plenty of trout left in this lake! I would hook a worm, with a yellow cheese mallow on top and then blow up the worm with air. The trout seemed to really like it where previously they only wanted powerbait. Noticed flourescent green and yellow baits from the nearby fishers worked o.k. too. Started slow with a few tiny red eyed bass jumping on the line. Once it started to get dark the bite really picked up. Had trout striking my line before my weights even hit the bottom twice, always exciting! Didn't catch my limit but a few 13 inchers were caught. No real luck with the perch fishing from the shore today.
