Alright well this was the first weekend trip of the year to start off with our "new" 17' 1972 Crestliner tri-hull open bow. Used the same setup as i did the yeard before on my 10ft deep V. The fish in this lake average 9-11in and with the occasional bow tipping your rod at 14in and the 14-17in chinook "shaker" which has been more prominent lately. 1-5 hookups has been a juvenile chinook which leads me to believe the big boys are feeding very well in this lake. I see them regularly 10-15ft below these schools and have yet to attempt to send any of my smaller catches down on a plug to see how big they are just due to the stress on catching and releasing. The chinook we are not allowed to keep but it doesn't say anything about catching them. I've heard from A Skokomish park ranger at the store people have been targeting them and taking the chinook in the 15-25lb range and as of 1 week previous to this fishing date a Cabela's fishing team caught a 41lber. I forgot the name of the ranger i met with early sunday morning for coffee but this has caught my interest. Theres also a newer picture of a "dolly" in the Cushman resort that looks more like a big bully? which the resort will not say anything in regards to the fishing other than it's "ok" and are anti shoepeg corn. Due to people tossing ALL there extra overboard and killing the fish because they can't digest it.

Dolly's and bull trout are the same fish, The ones in Cushman were Dolly's when they could go to the salt before the dam now I guess they would be bull trout since they are land locked. For the big chinooks troll up north on the west side over the old lake bed down 60'-70' with herring either plug cut or helmented behind a dodger or flasher and you will catch them with a occasional bull trout. Don't go down more than 70' or you will hookup on the tree tops of th trees left in the lake when they filled it up. good luck..
