morning of July 5 2014 excited to catch these monsters and hoping i would because i caught a few before in the past. 8 o clock no bites few hours later after getting my lure untangled from my moms rod i cast it and what felt to me was my lure getting caught in weeds..... again but once i felt that tug i set the hook and that fish jumped out of the water! this guy was going nowhere hooked him good. afterwords we move our location my parents are crazy over crappie. so that was our targeted species. my did had his rod rigged for crappie and am still throwing my lure hoping to catch a second muskie. BANG my dad say
" crappie got crappie!!" or was it? this thing was fighting to hard to be a crappie almost broke the line and he had to put on the drag. could it be a large mouth bass? but then once we saw that slim body we new it was to good to be true. a tiger muskie!! just hook right on the lip if the hook got any deeper in its mouth the sharp teeth would,ve broke the line for he had no steel line. measurements mine (the kid) 36" my dads 39" not even close to the keeping measurement so maybe next time

Great report, and most would have given this day a 4 or 5. Those guys can be hard at times. Just one thing to know, since the 50" minimum size requirement, not even a single fish has been caught that is long enough. The current State Record was caught before the 50" size requirement. Additionally, it is possible that Washington State may NEVER have a "legal" size fish. Muskies grow that big, Northern Pike seldom grow that big, and the cross, called Tiger Muskies, almost never ever get that big, and when they do, they are almost always 13 to 15 years old. LOL, better get use to just C&R, just like the Muskie Clubs wanted it.
