Decide to head out to Sammamish again today. I wanted to go back to that dock I missed the last fish on. So I headed directly to it. Hmmmm, I see a boat about 100 yards past that dock, going the other way, working the shoreline.
I look the other way and see another boat about 100 yards away going the same direction as the 1st boat I spotted. Bah, they can have it.
Instead, I used that time to tie up my lures and was able to watch that 2nd boat get closer to that dock. I see the person up front caught something at the dock before it. Too far away to see what it is. By then, I was done, so I boated to a deep extended point with timber. First cast was a little after 9:30AM. Worked that area thoroughly with nothing but perch.
I just keep going along the shoreline and get to a nice shady deep dock. Nothing on swimbait or crank. So I followed up with a tube. Bump and set the hook. A small SMB. What was interesting was what it coughed up all over my boat. Remnants of a crawfish. Took this pic so you guys can match the hatch.
I've been fishing for about an hr now. Decide to go to the other side of the lake. I'm looking at my graph and ready to hit some more deep docks when I spotted boat "B", at where I was going to go too! I swear, I'm not stalking them. Boo. I went about 200-300 yards in front of them and start working that shoreline. I get a point with I guess a flat. Was working a mid/deep crank out in open water. Casting into about 18' of water. Crank will hit just the top of the weeds, eventually. I felt a couple of bumps, then finally hooked up. Was a pretty big perch, had to have been about 11". I change my angle slightly and I get a solid bump on it. Feels like a decent fish and it's staying down. Wont rise at all, so I was confident it wasn't a squaw. I get it closer to the boat and see it flash and it's a nice SMB. I see the lure is across it's mouth, but barely hooked. I bring the fish towards the rear to net and as I'm bending over to grab the net, the lure pops out. Doh, just knew that was going to happen with the way it was hooked. Was about 16-17" SMB.
I keep working that area with crank and tube, but that was it.
Tried running my crank along deep docks. Even through some under the dock as far as I could and see.
It was getting pretty hot now at about 12:30PM. Called it quits.
