For every so callled "Quality Water" (see Rattlesnake Lake) that fails to live up to the word "Quality", you'll find a gem like Lone. Water temp at 39 degrees, bottom showing around 11 feet. Fish biting all around. Check the book "Tying Foam Flys". Look for the "Predator". Fish it slow off the bottom. Takes are kinda soft but rainbows are fat and sassy. This lake is a real Winter treat. P.S. Feb. 3 2001- Still chewing on "Predators", Waterboatmen, and bright green buggers. However, in this mild winter, the rainbows are coming to black and silver chironomids, size 14-16. P.S.S.- To MR. Pass Lake/Lone Lake expert: SHUT UP!!!!!! Yes, you caught a lot of fish, but the constant play-by-play of each and every take you had carried across the lake like a droning Howard Cosell. Remember, this is called the "quiet sport".
