Sure love fishing at at night during July! Got on the water with my brother in law Dan just before dark and motored down to the Granite Point end of the lake. Lots of rigs in the parking lot, seems like someone said something about kokanee? Last night was awesome with a full moon and pleasant evening temps. As it cooled a jacket was even in order....what a change from the 98 degree daytime heat!

Saw Brisco and said hello and my friend Brick was parked close the "spot" with his son. Anchored in 32' water over the "X" I have in the bottom of the lake ( just ask my grandson he almost believed me!). Got all set up and had the first three pieces of corn stolen without hooking a fish. I took a while for the lake to settle down from all of the water activities of the day; hard to tell what was a bite and the boat just bouncing around, or am I getting slow? Brother in law got the first one in the boat about 9:45. The bite started later this evening, maybe the full moon? The bite was very lite and sometimes I caught them just hanging on the line as the tip would get "heavy". There were some real rocket ships last night....what a hoot as they jump higher than the side of the boat! Yes you could hear the laughter coming from the boats; these fish are fun to catch!!

Finished out our second limit (two day possession) about 1:30 AM Saturday morning. Maggots and pink shoepeg corn were the ticket for beautiful kokanee 11 to 12". They are growing fast now.

FishDawg is coming over next weekend; can hardly wait....we will have a blast!

Tight lines everybody - Alan

Hi Al, question, were you using GLO hooks while on the bite? Last time out the bite was mosquito's, how was the bug activity? Thnx. Mtngrizz

mtngrizz, I always use the Mack's glow hooks in the whitish color. They make a wide gap red hook #6 that works best. I also use a #4 Swedish Pimple in glow for the weight with all split rings removed and small coast lock snaps on the pole line and also on the glow hook four inches down from the pimple. Don't tie directly to the pimple it is too sharp and will cut the line. Charge up the glow with a camera flash.

Not much trouble with the bugs if there is a little wind and we are also a ways from shore. Our gas lantern is on a pole that puts it up away from us so any bugs come to it and don't seem to bother us much.

Nice report Al !!
Are you launching out of the public launch? I need to start fishing Kokes real soon but it seems not enough time!! Like always I have more irons in the fire than I need. So if you read this send fire !!!!!

Whew with this hot weather you should have enough "fire"! I have been launching at the public launch. I really enjoy the boat ride back after catching a limit. It's so peaceful with only going 5 mph. Also the GPS makes it easy if there is fog that can sometimes happen even in the summer. Gotta love modern technology.
