Set out to do a little fishing with the kids yesterday. So rented a row boat and rowed out in the 100 degree heat to see if we could catch some rainbow trout. I had my concerns since it was not real early but more like mid morning. We fished on the East side of lake about 50 yards from the road/canyon wall. I got the first pole baited with marshmallow and worm combo then the second and finally the third. We waited about 10 minutes and the kids started getting restless and they wanted to pull up their lines and move but just then the the first pole went down and up came and large rainbow trout, probably in the 14-16 in range. I just get that one in the boat and bait back on and back in the water and the second one goes down and beauty about the same size. Then I attempt to get that one unhooked and baited when the first pole is back in the water again and this time it is a little bigger than the first couple and get that one in the boat when the last of the kid's poles goes down. This one is more around the 12 inch range. At that point, I have tell the kids that it time to stop and since we were camping that we are only taking what we can eat for lunch. They wanted to keep fishing but they understood and I rowed my way back to the resort. I thought I was going to pass out from the heat but the smiles on the kids faces made it all worth the while of rowing in the heat. A very successful day on the lake.
