While we didn't find large fish, we caught and released 55 in four hours. Boy, the small bass are plentiful this year, the most we have ever seen. As long as there is enough forage for all of them, it will be a great bass fishery in a few years. Hopefully they won't become stunted.
Air temp about 80 (too hot) and water temp is already at 76 degrees. We could use a hard, long rain. Lake level is already down about a foot.
As usual, I stayed with that plugs targeting the big ones so only boated 11 LMB.
I think P & K tied with 22 fish each. P caught about half bass and half pumpkinseeds and K caught the only trout when we decided to troll with the downrigger for about an hour.
We found some shade and paused for a hamburger BBQ. And we had some excitement with a lure high in a tree. And of course there's always the know-it-all park visitor who asks what we're catching and when we tell he insists there are also crappie in the lake (which there are not). When we politely correct him and say perhaps you're thinking of sunfish, he says, "Well yeah. They're the same thing." Yes, sure they are.........
