No cloud cover today, just bright blue sky.
Started off on the west side, at a point, first cast at about 8:30AM, with a crank. Mixed in with swimbait and dropshot.
First hour, nothing but perch. So I moved to the east side of the lake.
Got my first dink SMB of the day with a swimbait in about ~4' of water. There's a boulder in the water and striked right when my lure went past it. So I started picking that area apart. There's a dock nearby too, which I worked but just ended up with more perch. I backed off and started fishing in about 10-12' of open water with a dropshot.
Got me a slightly bigger dink at 13", but I see a nice 15-16" SMB chasing after it. This fish coughed up it's meal. I don't know what kind of fish it is. Anybody can identify?
I keep working that area for another 20 mins or so, but all I was getting was perch again.
I head towards the shoreline and work the bank of docks, rocks and timber. Caught me several more dinks on DS. Caught some more on tube. The crank wasn't getting any love, so I tried a jerkbait for a while too, which didn't even get a bump.
One of the dinks I caught on a tube coughed up parts of a crawfish again. But I'm guessing since it's all orange/red, it's cooked by the fish's stomach?
Moved to another section of the lake and started working the deeper water point, 15-25'. I saw stuff on sonar, but couldn't even get a nibble except from perch. Tried fishing the outside weed line too with a tube and DS.
Got hot by 12:30PM and called it over.
Not to sure where to locate the big ones. And my standard of "big" is low at the moment. I would be happy with a 1.5#er.
