What a great week it was to catch some fish! Rented a boat and camped for a few days at the resort. Tried trolling for fish at first but was largely unsuccessful with the exception of a few smaller LMB. An older gentlemen who was also camped at the resort gave us some tips and showed us a few good locations to try and it wasn't long before we were hooked into some nice sized fish!! We mostly caught Silvers, but also caught a few Brook Trout and even what I'm pretty sure was a German Brown Trout. ( No pic. of the brown though--sorry. It was 14 in. and fat) Silvers were 12-15 in. and pretty meaty. I heard they spawn near the lake shore around August according to some campers there. Managed to catch the biggest fish of the week, the Brook trout in the photo held next to my head ( 16 in, not sure of the weight though as I had no scale) There is a channel around the edge of the lake in about 30-35 feet that the fish swim in which gave the best results. Try a Single weight with a real short leader ( 12 in. or less) with a nightcrawler. Let your line hit the bottom, then reel up 5 times around and they can not resist! Make sure you have non lead weights though, as lead weights are not legal to use.
