Smallmouth fishing has been off the charts on Banks Lake! Today we had ideal conditions for a top water bite. Clouds, a little rain, calm water, and the smallmouth did not disappoint. We caught fish on poppers and Zara Spooks until 1 PM today. Caught and released approximately 20 smallmouth at the 3 pound range with many others in the 2 pound range. We also were able to get a very good bite throwing a Yo-Zuri Rattling Vibe.

The water level at Banks is at full pool which has pushed the fish back shallow (2-6 feet). The south end of Banks Lake is where we have been doing the most damage recently.

On another note, the walleye bite at the south end has also been quite good. Walleye are being taken around Goose Island in water depths ranging from 16-30 feet. Spinner rigs as well as trolling crankbaits like Berkley Flicker Shad have been the ticket.
