I drove a bus load of kids over to Camp Lakeview last Monday and came back rod in hand to take them home last night. Not really a bass fisher, but everybody seems to think Tanwax is a good bass lake and so why not give a shot. I can't pass up the opportunity to get a line in the water. My friend and I fished into the dark of night last night tossing frogs in the pads - lots of splashes but we couldn't seem to get the bass to eat the frogs. Maybe it was because the weeds were so thick. I don't think we were pulling it away from them.
This morning I went down to the dock at the camp and threw a texas rigged worm under the dock and caught a couple of 1 pounders, then caught a dink on a stick bait along the outside of the dock. I tried cranks, a buzz bait, a spinner bait, frogs in the pads again... nothing. Then I pitched a 5" green and white senko weightless under the dock again and caught a couple of better fish about 2.5 and 4 lbs. All the worm caught fish picked it up on the sink. Seems funny that I fished all over and around an expansive section of pads and the dock, and all the fish caught came from under the corner of the dock I was standing on.
