I took my wife with me on this easy hike up to Independence, maybe 8 other cars in the parking lot, so not too many people, and the weather was beautiful. The fishing was slow, but the fish were rather large for an alpine lake. I started off with a castmaster, nada, then i tried a dardevil spoon, nada, then i set up a corky/worm plunk set up casted it and started getting my fly rod ready, as i was tying on a fly i look over and my rod is doubled over no tap tap, just went from slack to completely bent with continous pressure, i set the hook, and fish on, it fought pretty well, and i brought in a fat, nicely colred 13" alpine bow. After that i got one other hit that i missed, my wife got bored quick so i only spent maybe 1 hour fishing. I rated it a 2 because i only caught 1 fish, but i really liked this lake and had a good time.
