Hello again. I have fished these landlocked sockeye, for most of my life. and today, i had to laugh. got on the water at 8 am. water like glass. "not so good", i thought. well, right away, i lose a fish. then, one bite. then nothing. i was using the same settup i did the last two times out. so, i switiched from the DD, gold, to my all time killer, the seps hammered nickle, with added prism tape. two small bites. nothing. oh well. we all have to suffer! so, i left the seps on, and just threw on the first thing i could un wrap. a wedding ring, that i had a kahle hook on, and a #4 red gamagatsu, trailler. two kernals of aging corn. i did not like the smell of it. ....i saw fish, in 48-60' of water. so i droped it to 30'. FISH ON, AND RIGHT NOW! in the net, i noticed she was hooked deep in the jaw, on the red trailler hook. nice. odd. both kernals of corn, were still intact on the front hook. the next four were the same! can we say, "mini lake washington"? lol. they wanted the red hook, with no bait! saw a coulple beating the tar out of em, still fishing. my freind, and his dad, arrived about this time. i took em to the spot, and told em to use red hooks. they did not beleive me. so, i started fishing again, like a bad boy, and helped em out. lol. made beleivers out of em. oddly, the fish were willing to bite, only in 45-55' of water. they really need to raise the limit on these fish. they just croak at end of season. so, because of my choice putting on the wedding ring with the red trailler, i found out what they like. sometimes, SMALL IS THE KEY. and in this case, NO BAIT was the right size! i am building up a nice amount of fish, to smoke and can. cant wait. also, taking your motor out of gear, (going with the wind) will bring more strikes. one more thing. kahle hooks, are better hookers, then ANY of the rest, hands down. i have been using them for years. alot of years. they are like a scud fly hook. they go beyond the jaw, into the skull. sweeeeet! gottal love commercial koke fishing. lmao.
