Headed out to Bradley lake early. Not sure what I would catch, just felt like tossing a line in the water. I threw everything out and got no bites, several different lures, bobber with different baits, bottom fishing with bait. I moved to an area on the south side a tossed out a clear torpedo bobber with a black woolly bugger fly trailing about 30 inches behind. I retrieved a few cranks then stopped for a couple seconds then cranked again then stopped. After a couple casts toward some pads, I got a hit and reeled in an 8" small mouth bass. I ended up catching two of the little guys and saw a few tiny bluegill swim by.

It wasn't the best day but I was happy with the results of using the fly...that is a first for me. I did see a rather large carp swimming in the area. I tried targeting it but I have no idea what to use to get it to bite. I might study up on that.

That's strange? There are no smallmouth in Bradley.

I've caught largemouth in Bradley, but never heard of, or seen a smallmouth caught. It wouldn't surprise me if someone introduced them illegally.

Sorry, was going to put "small large mouth bass" but got distracted and didn't fix it before I posted.
