So after meeting missafish again at Larsen on Saturday morning, I mentioned that I needed to head to the south end and what did he suggest. After some conversation Deep Lake was suggested, and then he suggested we just go, and that turned out to be a great idea.

We hit the lake ... I'd say in the neighborhood of 9 am. There were some guys fishing trout from the dock, and the shore. I didn't see them catch any.

We set up for bass heading along the shore to the right if facing the lake. There was a swimming platform to start with - within 5 minutes missafish had a keeper, probably about a 10-12 inch bass, and a couple of minnows. I also got 2 minnows. Used crappie setup - jig on a bobber. Missafish also had a spinnerbait, but I didn't see him get anything on it.

Moving down the lake we had varied success, mostly landing minnows. No heavy strikes. After 90 minutes or so, I hooked one big enough to at least bend the rod a little. I'm thinking 8 or 9 inches. But it got off. About 15 minutes later I'm back casting at the same spot, and I snarled a cast, my bobber landed 18 inches off the shore on the other side of the log in 6 inches of water, and a bass exploded on my jig. Luckily the bass hooked itself well, and then the line unsnarled and I managed to land it. Always better to be lucky than good I say. It was very comparable to missafish's. Good for a snack. It's in the picture.

Overall, this lake was fun, there was plenty of action, but mostly minnows. Would need more time as we only made it perhaps 25% of the way around the lake. If you look at the map, I think we made it from the launch, to the spot where it sticks out farthest to the right. I left about 11:30, with missafish tiptoeing down over a pile of sticks. I hope he didn't fall in! On that note, there is a trail around the lake, but shore access is down a steep, loose footing bank pretty much everywhere. Use caution.
