My youngest son, Wesly, came up to spend the weekend with us... wanted to get some fishin' time in, so headed to Silver Lake to try for a mess of perch. Lots of people out, enjoying the sun and the lake. Arrived at 3:00 PM, temp a toasty 79 degrees... water temp at the shoreline was 78 degrees. Headed for the southwest shoreline, casting worms under a small Thill clamp-on float. Started catching fish almost immediately... 1 perch of 6" to 9" for every 12 small LMB. A ton of fun on UL gear. Had to adjust leader length under the float several times (from 4' to 1 1/2'), as the fish seemed to rise higher in the water column as the sun began to lower in the sky. Ended up keeping a total of 20 perch, which made a nice sized pile of fillets for a great fish-fry. Left the lake about 7:00. Great to spend some time with a very busy son who works full-time and will be beginning his third year at college this Fall. PTL!
