Friends, Angle Lake is beginning to turn on again. Saturday, first on on the dock @ 6 AM. First the onslaught of perch and small bluegills. At 7 AM a family with 2 girls arrived, brought a cooler. They were catching fish almost immediately. The youngest girl (6-1/2) latched" onto me, offered me a fruit combo plate of blueberries, strawberries and watermelon and I was helping her for awhile. She could bait her own hook (worms) but was challenged with casting. I showed her some easy steps to improve her skills and soon she was casting with great aim and distance. She began catching and her father caught a trout. Excitement!
Finally I could concentrate on why I was there. Using a night crawler/ red egg combo I finally coaxed one 9" RB Trout. Had a hard hit with another measuring all of 13" and thick. My fishing partner was constantly using my bait, which was ok. Her father left to buy more worms and came back with 6 tubs and gave me one and one for her. They also asked me to have lunch with them. What a nice family!
Across the way another family arrived with many kids and set up camp. Not 5 minutes later and the youngest's short rod is bent over. I'm thinking, he's snagged but no, a 15" RB Trout skyrockets and eventually is netted! Wow!
All in all a pretty good day of fishing.
Sorry, no photos this time.
