This will be our final report for Lake Wenatchee this season. Fished August 20-22. Wednesday took our friend And his 4 year old son out. Hearing the forecast I was a little nervous. 20 mph winds are not fun on the lake. Good thing is that it was only 8 mph at 5:00 so we launched and headed back down lake to our honey hole. Today was our most active day of the season. We had an absolute amazing bite from 5:55 till 7:45 as we put 15 in the boat and only lost 2. Finished with 17 at 9:45. Hoped to hold out for a boat limit but the wind had other plans. We packed up and headed in with the wind behind us and the waves building. 3 foot waves at the state park. Crowds are gone and the boat launch is clear. Fish are defiantly darker but we did end up with some okay fillets but not what they were a couple weeks ago. Mostly small females today.
Thursday and Friday I took my brother and nephew out. Started fishing by 5:15 again a crazy good bite for a couple hours. They lost several fish but still ended with 12 on Thursday and 11 Friday. Bite dies around 9:15 so not worth trying after that. Both days ended with some of the largest males for the season. Several 4.5 lbs plus.
Can't wait for my son to put all the gopro footage together and post it. Should be fun. We have learned a bunch but the biggest thing we learned is when something isn't broken don't try to fix it. The bite will turn back on you just have to be fishing hard when it does. Also you need to be watching your pole instead of digging in you tackle box. Right "article fox"?

This season is one for the memory books. I took out a total of 16 friends and family this year. Many of them this was the first time on lake Wenatchee and first time fishing sockeye. Hopefully hooked many on fishing especially as they enjoy eating those prime early season sockeye.
