Had a good day fishing Lake Stevens. started fishing about 7:30, had 4 in the boat by 10:00, and finished with a limit by 11:30. A nice batch of fish with most being 13" to 14". Last week I only got 5, but had two 16 inchers. Only lost one this week, but last week I lost more than I got in the boat. I also had a lot of hits, but nothing stuck. It was one of those days. Fish are down at 80 feet deep in 105" of water or deeper. You have to stay in the area of the fish so you will be there when they decide to bite. For three weeks in a row now, two cloudy and dark days and one sunny, the best bite has been after 10:00. I started at day break on one of those days, and it made no difference. This will be my last report on Kokanee, it has been a lot of fun this month. Sorry no picture this time, you can look back to my report on 8/14 to see what I've been catching. A modified green Spinner has been the weapon that has produced for me.

I forgot to mention in my previous report that you should stay a long ways away from the fellow who backed his boat into mine at the dock. He doesn't know the first thing about operating or handling his boat. He was trying to leave the dock, and my boat was tied about 30' away. He left the dock at about a 30 degree angle and then swung the back of his boat around so that he was headed right for my boat at a pretty good clip. His wife ,another young fellow and I all hollered at him that he was going to hit my boat when he was at least 15' away. Nothing changed, and he smacked my boat the worst it has ever been hit in the 40 years that I have owned it. This was even with the young fellow trying to push him off. After moving forward about 10 feet he proceeded to start coming right back towards my boat again. So after more yelling, he got the thing in forward gear and said "well no dents" and took off. Stay clear of this bozo.

try a kahle #6 as lead bait hook, followed by a red gammi octo #4, as a trailer. pic of hooks is in one of my latest reports. this is the best hook ratio i have used. and ive used the kahle, solo, for near 40 years....
