Went out to liberty Lake yesterday morning to try to get some bass fishing in before the pleasure boaters got out. We had a slow three hours until we finally switch spots. Hit a bunch of docks and points with nothing to show for it.
A couple bits but no hook ups, so we decided to head for the outside weed edges. After only a couple casts
my son says "I got one, I got one". He's said this about 40 times today as we had been fishing weeds and edges so I glanced
over at his pole it was bent pretty good but thought it was another weed. I said are you sure!?!?? And then
his pole started bouncing, ok we got something here. He kept reeling in reeling in the fish wasn't coming at all
then it started pulling drag. Hummmm maybe a big one? All of a sudden I saw it flash about 10-12
feet down it was a monster smallmouth! My heart starts going a thousand miles a minute we gotta
land this fish. After a nice jump right by the boat we get him landed and it's a grotesque beast of
a smallmouth. 6lbs 5oz!! A couple quick pics and back in the lake to get even bigger!! Great job little
buddy! Baited, casted, and landed all by himself!!
