Alright. First report in a while. Just returned from 5 months working in alaska, so straight to steamboat rock for the annual 10 day vacation with family and friends. Weather was great. Fishing was even better. We fished every morning. Its the same strategy every year... troll the weed beds in 12 - 16ft of water with rapalas. Our fish of choice is the SMB and we did get quite a few in the 9 - 12 inch range but only 3 caught over 14". The action of the week were the walleye, we caught countless.... the only problem, 1 in 20 were over the 16" mark. But no big deal. Next year they will all be grown up and legal to keep. Last saturday my cuz caught a nice surprise while casting on the rocks, a gorgeous 18" rainbow, which I have to add was probably the best trout I've ever tasted. Our biggest fish of the week was my sisters 20" bucket mouth, caught in the weeds next to the old road. We also landed one crappie and 3 catfish which were all released. Now that I'm back from work it's time to catch some salmon!
