I was able to take Wednesday afternoon off, (I know this report is a little late), and headed out to Long for a little bass fishing. It was a beautiful afternoon with no wind and few skiers. The fishing was slow for bass but hot for squaw fish. I was using a crank bait on the edge of the river channel and the squaw dogs were all over it, I caught 13 and would have fed them to the ospreys and eagles but I didn't see any. We totaled about a dozen smallies for the afternoon, most were dinks but I managed a couple between 2 1/2 and 3 lbs. The water temp is still 68 degrees, I think it needs to drop a few more degrees to force the smallies to put on the feed bag before winter.
