This report is for Friday and Saturday.

Friday I started fishing around Kirkland by 9:00am and started off with a pink mini hoochie behind an Abe and Al flasher fished just off the bottom. I was marking fish regularly and saw them jumping in the bay, but I was having no luck. I switched out to a Point Wilson Dart type of lure in green/silver and tried jigging for a while also with no luck. I started working my way through my tackle boxes, trying different flashers and various colored hoochies. Eventually I ended up using a chartreuse mini hoochie with a smile blade, tipped with shrimp and fished 32” behind a 10” Double B flasher. Dragging this around at 50’ on the rigger brought me a limit in less than an hour. I stayed in the area of 60’ to 80’ and kept my speed between 1.4 and 1.8 mph on the GPS. On my way back to the launch, I passed a few boats fishing Hunts Point and noted fish being cleaned over the side of the boats, looked to be a good day all around.

Saturday, I invited my father to join me and we had lines in the water shortly after 8:00am. I started out using the same gear that produced for me the day before and my father was running a 8” green Pro Troll flasher and dragging a yellow and orange mini hoochie about 16” behind it. After the third fish on my setup, we switched out my father’s rig to match mine and it was lights out from there on in. We finished the day with a double and left for the launch by 10:00am. We did see a boat jigging successfully, they limited just before we did and were sticking to the 50’ to 60’ depths. The fish we kept were in the 4 to 6lb range, the action was consistent enough to release small fish/jacks.

There were not that many boats out while we were fishing. Between Hunts Point and Kirkland/Moss Bay I’d say the count was about 12 boats total. Get them while they are still in good shape and remember a two pole endorsement is not valid in Lake Washington!

Raw salt cured shrimp/prawn. I really don't think it matters much what kind as long as it will stay on the hook.

Thanks G Man, beautiful fish. Never knew Lake Wa got coho. I'll give it a try tomorrow morning. Fishing from my pontoon. Should be interesting.

Do you mind saying which launch you went out of.

I get an annual pass to the lauch next to the Newport Marina. Since I live 5 minutes from this launch, I use it almost exclusively. The closest lauch to the area I fished is Magnuson, I don't count the Kirkland launch as it pathetic and not really open to use until November. There is a free launch in Kenmore, which the the State just revamped, and is the next closest public lauch. If you have a smaller boat, be mindful of the conditions. We have had fantastic weather the past couple of weeks on top of the minimal boat traffic. Once the winds kick up, running long distances on the lake can be tough. It's close to a 10 mile run, one way, from the launch at Newport.

Sounds good. I live only about 2 miles from the Kenmore launch. But this season I still have my boat moored at the Everett Marina. Your report makes me wish I didn't.
