I was really hoping that today was going to end up like yesterday but I had to work hard for my fish. There was a very thick fog that stuck around all morning long that probably had a factor in why the fish were not biting. Well Salmon at least. The first 5 min into my troll I land a nice 18 inch cutthroat. An Hour later I land another cutthroat that was by far the biggest I have ever caught measured at 22 inches as seen in the pic. Finally afternoon the fog clears the sun tries to peak and thats when the Salmon started biting. I had consistent bites but using 8 pound mainline and 12 pound leader on a kokanee rod made it very diffcult to land fish. Lost 3 landed one and then the bite was off. Lots of fish surfacing today so I know they are still in there. Bright colors and UV seems to be the trick out there. I rated this a 5 because of the hot action despite my failure to land em. I have one more day to try and catch a few more and then it is back to work for me. Hope you guys can get out there and enjoy this fishery while it last. Tight Lines!

Thanks for the report DjButler. I've been reading everyone's report on the Lake Washington Coho drill. Well done unlocking their jaws. I keep heading out to the salt and do ok, but I think its time to give the lake a chance. FYI, I did notice today driving over the Ship Canal Bridge that there appears to be netting going on in Lake Union! I even saw a tender boat start hauling in the gear. This might account for the fishing being a bit tougher. I'm a Seattle native born and raised and can't recall nets ever being in Lake Union?

Are you fishing north of 520 bridge
Thanks

@Homewaters- Thats really unfortunate because the fishing has been so good and from what I have heard this was a record year on Lake Wa for coho. Well the fishing just may die down now.

@WoodButcher- Yes, north of the 520 Bridge. I dont think the Coho travel South.. at least I never heard of any heading to the Cedar River.

Great job dj, I am toying with hitting the lake verses the salt this weekend but will have some rookies with that want to go in the salt. What are you using for flashers? Thank kokanee1

Wood butcher: You can only fish north of 520 bridge per wdfw regulations.

I just use a standard 6 inch chrome dodger from Luhr Jensen. I honestly think its up in the air. As good as fishing was for me, not to many other boats caught much. I saw about 8 boats leave after an hour of fishing.

Coho and chinook salmon go up the Cedar river. They are working on improving the salmon run in the Cedar river (Landsburg dam has been removed). Eventually there may be more coho spawning in the Cedar river than in the tributaries to Lake Sammamish. http://www.seattle.gov/util/EnvironmentConservation/OurWatersheds/CedarRiverWatershed/CedarRiverBiodiversity/Fish/ChinookCohoSalmon/index.htm
