After all the great reports recently, I just had to take some time to try it. Thank all you guys for all the great detailed reports. I started around the Moss Bay area around 7:30am and saw fish surfacing everywhere. Very cool to see. I had my first fish within 15 minutes. Set back and then got another hit but part way to the boat, the line goes dead. I thought it spit the hook and reeled in the line. Come to find out the leader broke. I probably had the drag set too tight but could have just been too light of leader. I even thought last night to change it out to a higer test, but got distracted and forgot. Lesson learned. It was a mini hoochie in the chartreuse color with a smiley blade. I of course only had one of those. I tried a chartreuse Dick Night and got a few hits but nothing stuck. I then switched over to a mini hoochie in a green color but no smiley blade. I again got a few hits and one release from the downrigger, but reeled up just the dodger and not hoochie. My last try was to put on my usual Lake Washington cutthroat lure, a Brad's cutplug. About 10 minutes later got a hit and landed another coho. Like others have said in their reports, I was at about 50ft on the downrigger in about 70 - 80 feet of water. There were at least 6 other boats by me and another pack farther south by the Hunts Point area. The boats by me seem to be doing just as good, getting bites every now and then. I was there till noon and it seemed to dye down shortly before that, but there was only 2 boats left by then also. The two fish I did get were 4lbs and 6lbs and definatly starting to turn color. The meat is still bright red and firm though. Time to fire up the smoker!

I've never thought of fishing Lake WA for salmon. After all the great reports this season, I might have to check it out next year. Thanks for posting. Sounds like a great morning!

Love it! It's about time that the recreational fishermen get their share of these coho. I am using 25lb Maxima Ultragreen for my leader material as I had a few drive byes that snapped my leader. I also am using the large Scotty releases and it takes a little more than a simple tug to release the line, but it sets the hook good on the take.

I launch out of the Kenmore launch as I live in Bothell. I am going to switch everything over to higher test line and hopefully try again this weekend. Not sure how long they will be there though with the rain coming at least next week.

Nice job Adam...I was there as well. In the 3 hours I fished, I managed to loose my net within the first 15 min, break my T8 shift cable and catch my first Lk Wa coho ever...a nice #5.5 jack! That's fishing...Ha!
