Was out at the Evan's Pool dock at 7pm until 10:30pm, it was raining fairly hard periodically. I was hoping to target bullhead catfish or carp using worms. I saw a report dated a few weeks back that someone managed to catch carp on worms(which I thought was pretty weird, but they are omnivores). Caught two channel catfish, one was smaller than limit size, the second one was slightly bigger. Both were unhooked and released, the second one however was a bleeder but swam off safely. They gave no fight until I was reeling in the line until I noticed some small struggle. Nice time, these two and counting my first catfish the other night makes 3 channel catfish caught in Green lake for me so far. Only managed to use about 5 nightcrawlers out of the dozen I purchased from Fred Meyers in Ballard, when the rain started to come down even harder. Decided to call it quits for tonight. Only to realize the rain completely stopped as I made my way home. Sucks, cause I even had my car washed earlier today.

Was at the same location earlier today at approx 5am in the morning. Waters were calm in the morning, could see and hear the carp swirling near the dock. Caught nothing but saw a nice meteor coming down. As I was leaving, I nearly kicked myself as I saw a carp just sitting in the shallow edge of the dock. Wished I had a bow or something.

Next time try floating bread on the surface when you see carp. They go crazy for that stuff.

Good to see the cats plated are doing well. However, I was not aware of a size limit on channel catfish in Green Lake. To my knowledge, it is open to 5 fish with no size restrictions, per the statewide freshwater rules.

@hooksetjou,
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try next time I'm on the waters. Problem with floating bread is the ducks and other birds try to take their cut. Also makes casting a bit of a pain.

@G-Man,
Your absolutely right, I've been reading everywhere for info on Green Lake, and apparently mistook this from the WDFW website:
"Catchable-size Channel Catfish (8-11 inches) were last stocked in Fall 2011"; Either way, I'm a complete catch & release guy. I've been catching a lot of catfish on worms, and once on powerbait. I'm not sure what else they go for. I remember reading somewhere that channel catfish prefer live bait where as bullheads don't mind dead bait.

@mickeybland,
Thanks! Looking at Stansjoy's report, looks like there's a few out there.

Pretty catfish. I have only caught brown bullheads. That was at Cottage lake 1-2 pounds.. nice fat fish. Most of the time I let em go but I did keep one once and gave it to friend.

Thanks,
I've managed to fish a few lakes in the Seattle area, but I have not yet caught any brown bullheads. I'm told they exist in Green Lake, but never had any luck. Around this time of the year, the temps have dropped and I imagine the main fish to target right now is trout(in most lakes). I've also learned that with catching catfish, sometimes the hook gets swallowed real deep, if your planning to release them, best to just cut the line and let the hook dissolve itself. I'll have to try Cottage Lake sometime, I'm guessing it's probably too cold right now for bullheads?
