There was clearing in the rain today right around noon and the sun came out. I've got my pole in my car, so I took my lunch break and ran over to Fivemile lake to see how the steelhead are biting that were recently stocked. As I walk up to the beach an old guy is just leaving with his limit....that's a good sign.

I cast out with a bluefox spinner and within a few cranks have a nibble but don't hook up. I cast a dozen more times but don't get anything, although I see fish surfacing. It's pretty windy so it's difficult to get out far enough to target the fish. I decide to change my setup and put on a bobber and about 18 inches of line with a floating yellow power egg. I cast out and let it sit. Within 60 seconds the bobber disappears and I set the hook....fish on! Nice 12" steelhead puts up a good little fight. He almost completely swallowed the hook but I get it out and throw a few more casts with no more bites.

I had to get back to work but not a bad outing for only 30 minutes. I probably could have given it a 5 star if I had more time to spend. I will definitely be hitting the lakes that were stocked as much as I can.
