11/12/2014 7:44:00 PMThey are steelhead smolts, but still technically rainbow trout as they haven't been to sea - which brings me to my big question... why would a rainbow smolt be spawning? It was definitely milt that was coming out of the salmon I got yesterday, and the one today was dark...like it had just spawned or was getting ready to.

11/14/2014 7:38:00 PMThe stocked steelhead are addipose clipped like the one in your picture while other rainbows won't be. It was probably a resident rainbow as the stocked steelhead are not sexually mature.
