Got there at 7:30. Put on a home-made jig and hooked one right away. After a few more casts I switched to a dark rooster tail and caught another on the 1st cast.
As I was putting the 2nd fish on the stringer, disaster struck and the first fish bolted and the stringer went in the water and it started to swim away. Without thinking, I jumped in feet first and grabbed at the stringer, which made the fish dart further out - I then DOVE after the stringer and caught it. I stated out loud "I can't believe I just F---ing did that! I'm soaking wet!"
I got out with my stringer and a photographer was standing there open mouthed....then asked "Can I take a picture of you?", to which I replied "You mean you MISSED THAT?!? Sure... sure... take the photo...I'm soaking wet!"
It was about 7:50 and 35 degrees, so needless to say, my feet were pretty cold - I had a down-filled bib exposure suit that managed to keep out most of the water, but my arms, lower legs (where it came up under the suit) and feet were soaking wet. I stuck around, wrung out my socks and went on to catch my limit before 10am...even throwing a half dozen back that I didn't want.
Awesome day and a great fish story!!
