I got to the lake about about 9 am. It was very empty for a Sat. I guess everyone was at Green lake. I did not mind because it was a peaceful time on the lake. Weather was gloomy and I could tell a front was moving through. I was not surprised that it took longer than normal to get my first fish. I tried bobber and worms. I tried various spinners and rooster tails to no avail. I was really hoping to get some fish jigging but they seemed to be a bit deeper or more picky. I got my first fish after about 30 min on orange Power egg floated from the bottom on a almost 2 ft leader. Nice size too. I put out my line again another 30 min another fish. It began to pick up after that. I set up my second poll with orange PE but on a smaller hook. I got a fish almost immediately. This one barely stayed hooked. At lot of them were like that and did not swallow the hook. I was not getting as many hits so I added a red salmon egg to my lines and the bite picked up like crazy after that. It as a lot more fun since that is my light bass poll. In all I had a great time and limited out. It too me till a little after 12 but I was determined to walk away with my 10 fish. Things really did pick up near 1130 or 1200 and I started to see more people pulling in fish. It seemed like it was a pretty slow day for most everyone else at least before 11. I saw a few taken here and there but not many. Another fellow was starting to catch them steadily on what looked like a white type power bait. Right when I was leaving a fellow took one on a yellow rooster tail it was epic to watch especially the joyous shouts of the kiddos fishing nearby. The highlight of my day was certainly the enthusiasm and excited from those kids. Once again great lake for kids but come prepared with all options as you never know what they are going to hit. Met some great people and it made for a good fishing trip.
