I decided to try out Green lake for the first time. I went a little after 10am. They stocked that lake with a lot of trout so I knew it would be likely to be good catching. I could see there was already quite a crowd but still space for me.
I was not disappointing and I very quickly limited out...well still took about 2 hours but such it is when you have a little one with you, much harder to fish. Also tons of people walking the trail and more than one dirty look from them for bringing my little one. It is possible to fish and baby wear though. :D I just wished I had used lures more so I could be more selective with what I kept. Those fish were nibblers and took some time to actually hook em. I used bobber and fake worm and got some that way. I used a spinner and got some that way. Some of the fish fell off before I got them up. I used real worms and bobber near the end so I could catch faster. I was quite content to keep fish tell a passerby.. in a very judging voice asked how I had not noticed the toxic algae sign. I had not of course. I did not keep any fish from the lake because of that but I did give some away and those I did take home were cleaned very carefully and giving away. Just not worth risking for me. Over all it was fun to see the lake. The crowd was kind of wild and I do not know much about fishing so close to many.
I want to come back and fish with lures and jigs only and mostly barb-less and mostly release em. Also I will not be bringing my little one. Great place to fish though and if you are willing to look for a spot less populous good for first timers.
