Weather was tough - crowds were huge and the fish were finicky. More poachers with as many as THIRTY on a stringer. :(

Wind early on made it impossible to use anything but a kastmaster.

I ended up leaving about 2 with only 6 fish on my stringer (4-5 released). Still a good day & had fun

Oh - highlight was Jesse's bass

Did the rule breaker know about the rule or they just didn't care?

I didn't ask and it isn't my responsibility to. It's their responsibility to know the laws - any judge would uphold that. The guy w/the pork-pie hat that pretends not to know English has been told by more than one person what the limit is.

several years ago I was fishing the solduc for coho. There was a group of 6 vietnamese down at the hole snagging them left and right.I decided to leave the crowd and go to another spot.walking up the trail I saw 2 of them coming up about 30 yards behind me carying 3 fish.they disappeared and came back out of the brush, they hadn't seen me so I snuck back and found where they left the trail.there was a pile of about 30 fish stashed in the brush.Hiked back to the car and the wardon had just pulled in.I walked him back and showed him the stash and told him who's they were.He called in and about 5 fishery cops and sheriffs showed up.Hung out in the parking area just long enough to see the group brought out in handcuffs. Those people have no respect for our laws or wildlife.I offered to testify but they said it wouldn't be neccesary as they were caught red handed.

Tell us the story about the cop on the bike path...

W4y, nothing interesting - there was a half marathon or something happening around the lake, so the cops were out escorting runners. Added to an already very crowded scene.

Yet another reason why snagging and especially poaching bugs me so much. You can take what is already a nice fishery (Green Lake for example) and then put a ton of fish into it and make it an absolutely amazing fishery which draws a lot of people out. Obviously you end up with crowds, but as long as everybody is willing to work together, fishing in a crowd can actually be a fun experience with a sort of "fisherman's camaraderie" building up (even though I would typically prefer solitude). But then you get those couple of people who insist on snagging and or poaching and it just ruins the whole thing. Most all of the legitimate fishermen are put off by it and it seems like pretty soon you just have a lot of people who at best are just quiet and don't talk to anyone and at worst turn downright nasty and maybe even violent. And then you have the added issue of no one wanting to help anyone else or offer advice or tips to other people. I understand that too, with a train of thought that says "why should I spill my secrets or let people know of nice spots if all it will do is just bring snaggers and poachers down on a place that used to be good?" I think it might be a stretch to say that snaggers and poachers negatively influence all aspects of sport fishing, but I honestly don't think it is far from the truth.

It's nice to finally meet you Pat.yup I witness poaching first hand, the person fishing not too far from me was catching too but I notice and every other time he catches fish one goes to his stringer ( for people to see) and the next one go to his chair(the kind of chair where there is a pocket inside). He really think no one sees him, I could have say something but at his age, it more like trouble and I don't want any of that. I think the wardens are being informed enough. Those people will get karma soon, bad karma that is.

DIal 911 and ask for F&W dispatch if its poaching in progress. An additional number (non-emergency) is 1-877-933-9847. There is also online reporting and email reporting if you have the connectivity. CALL.

Age has nothing to do with it, that's discrimination, the laws the law. I would have done what I could to turn these "poachers" in, they ruin it for all of us. I do have all the contact info for contacting F & W, that's the reason I have it in my phone, so tired of these things happening, "NO BREAKS!!"
